If you follow me on Instagram, you may not want to hear how the sausage is made.
But I’m going to share it anyway.
Short form mobile video is maybe the greatest hack in marketing right now.
And it’s for a reason most don’t know.
If you post videos every day for weeks, or for months—like I did before getting my first viral video…
Then you get that single first viral video…
You didn’t actually only get one viral video. You got 10. Maybe more. Seriously. You got perhaps over ten viral videos from getting your first viral video.
1.2 million views
Here’s what happened:
For the fourth time in its existence, I reposted a viral video I made last year.
I want to preface this:
I made this video about Google Search Console in about five minutes.
I made it in August of last year, 2023.
I made it on an iPhone 8 with an iPhone 8 camera.
The video ends with the line “It’s 2023 and somehow people still don’t know about this decade-old tool.”
It got 956,000 views on its first posting.
Since then, I posted it 2 more times, maybe more, on Instagram.
Each time it did well, but I hadn’t posted it in a while and I wanted to see if it would still do well.
I wasn’t sure that it would, to be honest.
Reposts of my viral videos have done well in the past, but…
It’s been nearly a year after this Google Search Console video was made.
The resolution is poor compared to my videos today.
And I freaking state in the video that it is 2023!
So I post the video a few days ago on Monday…
At the time of writing, the reposted video is up to 1.2 million views, lol.
I literally state at the end of the video that it is 2023, but the video is engaging, informative, and useful enough that it’s up to 1.2 million views.
Why I'm so bullish on this
Here’s why I’m so ridiculously bullish on this:
- Not only do I have a huge library of viral videos from posting every day for the last 629 days (yes, without missing a single day).
- Not only do I firmly believe anybody can do this. It took me 2 months posting several videos a day every day before having my first viral video. I think I posted over 100 videos on TikTok before my first one went viral.
- By the way, if you want some real inspiration, MrBeast just became the most subscribed YouTube channel with 300 million subscribers—but this was his subscriber special when he hit only 300 subscribers—11 years ago. How much has his content improved since then?
- I have a bunch of well-performing videos that sell my own products and affiliate products. So I can repost those and make money every time.
- Quick example. This is an affiliate video I made. It’s gone viral four or five times now, I’ve lost count. Here’s an article I wrote last year about how much money the video made.
- This video went viral twice, sharing my soon to be released product—Compact Keywords—as well as an SEO affiliate product. I’ll be posting it again. And again, and again.
So if you go hard posting videos about your brand every day.
And one goes viral.
It’s not just one viral video.
It’s 10 or more future viral videos.
All reminding people and driving awareness to your brand.
And the more you make videos, the more this library grows.
BTW if you want to try making daily videos, this is my exact social media strategy. Feel free to steal.
