People want to follow you if you are helpful.
Here’s a post from two weeks ago:
Great hook.
Interesting info.
I thought it was clear what to do and how it was beneficial. It wasn’t.
Comments:
So it wasn’t as helpful as I thought, but it still got a lot of engagement.
1.4 million views.
However… the followers gained from it:
Just 61. Hmmm.
New Reel – a few days later:
Great hook.
Interesting info.
This time the instructions and benefits were clear.
The video is now up to 3 million views, but I took this screenshot at 1.4 million views for an accurate comparison:
Followers gained from it: 12,269!!!!
CRAZY.
Same amount of views as the first video.
200 times the follower increase.
BE HELPFUL!
Being entertaining isn’t enough.
If you want people to want more of your brand…
Again, BE HELPFUL!
Here’s a checklist to use to figure out if your content is helpful:
- Is it clear what the viewer/reader/listener should do next?
- Is it obvious why this information is useful?
- Could someone get a result or improvement just from this advice?
That’s why video 2, despite equal views as video 1, got 200 times as many followers.
And hopefully this article satisfies those 3 questions, too.
