Personal branding and thought leadership have gotten so much easier.

First, keep in mind all the examples in this article are in the SEO/AI visibility niche. In other niches, where you’re not competing against an ocean of savvy practitioners, it is SO much easier.
Why the “world's most renowned AI visibility expert” LinkedIn post worked
- LinkedIn and other UGC platforms are incredibly prioritized in search results, where AI pulls its information from.
- The language is used exactly in the first sentence of Pedro’s post.
- Pedro has a LinkedIn profile optimized for “AI Visibility,” reinforcing the claim in his post.
- He has a lot of detail in his work descriptions that also reinforce the claim in his post.
- He has a history of posting, making it more likely his post shows high right away in Google’s results.
- He has a decent amount of followers, making it more likely his post shows high right away in Google’s results.
Relevance + a platform Google likes + a decently authoritative profile on that platform = Pedro’s success
Press releases
I previously shared using an $80 press release to get AI Overviews to say you have the top book in your space.
This example is a bit more expensive, but I’m really impressed.
Do any search for “LLM SEO expert” and you’ll probably come across Zeeshan Yaseen’s press release.
Yahoo Finance press releases are a few hundred dollars (in this case Zeeshan used GlobeNewswire to distribute his), but they last for months longer than the cheaper press releases.
Zeeshan did something extra for his release too to make sure it sticks around even more. He got SEO backlinks to it:
Here are the three levels to using press releases to strengthen personal branding:
- Highest impact: relevant press release on a solid site, like Yahoo Finance, with relevant backlinks pointing to the press release.
- Mid impact: relevant press release on a solid site, no extra backlinks.
- Lower impact, but still good: Doing an $80 press release every month or two – by the time the cheap press release loses SEO impact, you just release another.
- There’s a $500/year package on AB Newswire for 83 press releases in a year – cheaper than paying $80 every month or two.
- This is still cheaper than a press release on Yahoo Finance.

Building up a strong website and making a post about it yourself
David Quaid is a good friend and has been on my podcast many times. His first time is still my most popular guest episode (if you haven’t watched it yet, you’ll probably love it):
He made an article saying he’s the King of SEO – and guess what – now he is!
If you already have a website you’re doing SEO with, you can just use that!
Self-promotional listicles
For more competitive searches, self-promotional listicles work very well.
These are listicles (“The Best Math Tutors in NYC in 2026”) on your own website where you name yourself number one.
Tips:
- Don’t abuse this. Only use a handful of self-promotional listicles on your site.
- Be transparent that you’re putting yourself number one, but explain why it’s deserved.
- Don’t give yourself way more real estate on the list than other people. Give each person mentioned the same amount of space.
- Write in a neutral way. No hyperbole, no exaggeration.
Combine them!
- Self-promotional listicle (“The Best Math Tutors in NYC in 2026”) on your website.
- Press release saying you’ve been named The Best Math Tutor in NYC in 2026 (be transparent in the press release, but again explain why it’s deserved).
- Social media posts saying you’ve been named The Best Math Tutor in NYC in 2026. Some posts link to your article. Some posts link to the press release.
SEO is fun!
Something else all these examples have in common is it’s people having fun with SEO.
Once you understand how relevance and authority work together to get you into Google (and into AI), it becomes very fun and addicting.
You understand that SEO compounds, and you can have a site that prints money in the form of visibility for searches that bring customers, users, and leads.
Right now there are people turning to Google or turning to AI, asking for a recommendation for what your brand already does.
If only this person knew of your brand and why it is credible, they’d be coming to you.
When you understand SEO – you make it so your brand gets in front of people when they’re looking for it most.
