Publishing this week’s growth hacking article earlier than usual.
During the Silicon Valley Bank Collapse in March,Ā I went hardĀ making 4-5 TikToks a day about it.
The minimum views for one of them was 50k despite my new audience only being a fraction of what it is now.
During that weekend, when I was posting video after video, my followers grew a lot.
InĀ an article a few months ago, I wrote:
āSpin your niche to meet whatās trending in the news (you donāt always have to do this, but if you can, videos do a lot better).ā
This doesnāt just apply to videos, of course, butĀ any typeĀ of content.
And this is what Iām doing with this weekās newsletter.
The newsĀ of Sam Altman being fired from ChatGPT parent company, OpenAI, is only 3 hours fresh.
Iāve already made two TikToks about it, and a few minutes into their release, theyāre both doing far above average.
@build_in_public Sam Altman was just fired from OpenAI and this is the leading theory as to why. #samaltman #openai #chatgpt #microsoft ā¬ Artificial Intelligence - Melodality
@build_in_public The REAL reason Sam Altman was fired from OpenAI. #samaltman #openai #chatgpt #microsoft ā¬ original sound - Build in Public
This is a growth hack because content with trending news tends to doĀ way way better than normal. And to those who say the hype doesnāt last, those days during the Collapse were some of my highest-follower-growth days.
I have data to back this up.
As many readers know, I chart my TikTok follower numbers every morning at 6 AM.
This is the growth during the Silicon Valley Bank Collapse:
If you’re in tech or startups, this is trending news that you can incorporate into your content.
And if you’re not (and I know many of you are not), always be on the lookout for newsbreaks that everybody is talking about.
You’ll get far more engagement than usual.
