A reminder…
You can record videos on low quality devices…
Using the selfie camera (even lower quality)…
Videos looking like they were shot on a potato 🥔…
And still get sales.
Intrigue and quality remain intrigue and quality forever.
Like this one…
It still boggles my mind.
I originally made this video in Feb 2023. Shot on the selfie camera of an iPhone 8. In a noisy café. Promoting an affiliate product.

Goes viral.
Then…
I continue resharing it 2-3 times each year. Every year.
Like here, this most recent Feb. Goes viral AGAIN with 1 million views!

There is an abundance of high quality recording devices and STILL a scarcity of quality content!!
Repeatable strategy to get people to share
The previous video doesn’t fall into this next category, but it’s something I’ve been thinking about recently.
I made this video with Ryan Reynolds talking about how important storytelling is to his marketing strategy. Shared by a ton of agency owners. Liked by other artists: T-Pain, Sharon Stone, etc
I made this video about Neil Patel spending $160k on clothes to make an extra $692k. It was shared by designers, models, and people looking to validate their annual clothing spend.
But there’s a theme here.
Both videos gave people tangible validation for their careers and lifestyles. This caused people to resonate and share.
In the first video, Ryan Reynolds saying how important storytelling is to marketing success – I saw so many marketing professionals sharing the video to their IG stories and LinkedIns and saying, “I told you – this stuff is important!”
In the second video, Neil Patel getting real world success by spending $160k on suits, shoes, jackets, and briefcases. Designers shared and said, “I told you – this stuff is important!” Models shared and said the same thing. Non-designers who spent a lot on clothing also shared and said the same. (By the way, after that video went viral Neil Patel explained the article was taken down because he found his fashion spend wasn’t necessary to success and he didn’t want to mislead people).
Fun story – a year ago, a friend noticed from his analytics he randomly had a lot of people in Switzerland watching his TikToks. So he asked ChatGPT for a list of tangible reasons why Swiss people are the greatest. He read this list in a video. It went viral. Seriously.
The lesson here:
Think about the people in your niche and make content that validates their careers and lifestyles with tangible evidence.
They will share you. It’s a great top-of-mind driver. Best capture here, by the way, would be a free CTA at the end of the video, like “I share hacks for storytelling/fashion/your niche in my weekly newsletter at yourlink.com.”
The validating subject matter gets people to share. The CTA moves people into your funnel.
The only quality that matters is the quality of your message
You don’t need quality recording equipment.
You need quality ideas, aimed at the people in your niche.
Make content that makes them feel seen…
And they’ll make sure everyone sees you in return.
