Moz’s Crawl Test Is the Best Thing Since Sliced Bread and the Beatles

I wish I knew about this tool sooner. Moz’s Crawl Test is going to save me so much time doing Obstacle Analysis Reports.

For the past years, I’ve been doing my OARs manually, by analyzing Screaming Frog crawls. While it will still be necessary to use SF crawls and manual research for some things, I think Moz’s Crawl test is going to save me a ton of time.

Here are the OAR related columns which most stand out to me:

  • 302 (Temporary Redirect)
  • 4XX (Client Error)
  • 5XX (Server Error)
  • Title Missing or Empty
  • Duplicate Page Title
  • Title Element Too Long
  • Missing Meta Description Tag
  • Duplicate Page Content
  • Long URL
  • Overly-Dynamic URL
  • Too Many On-Page Links
  • Meta Robots Tag
  • Rel Canonical
  • Internal Links
  • Page Authority
  • Linking Root Domains
  • External Links

Here is what I’ll still need to do my own research and analysis for:

  • Page Title Too Short
  • Duplicate Meta Description
  • Meta Description Too Short
  • Meta Description Too Long
  • Brand Name Not Included in Meta Description
  • Duplicate H1
  • Missing H1
  • Too Short H1
  • Too Long H1
  • AMP Enabled
  • Unique issues per individual website, obviously

Also important is that the Moz Crawl Test doesn’t automatically crawl all subdomains, whereas Screaming Frog does.
